The 2020 Lenape Trail Pinewood Derby Race is going virtual!

Races are open to everyone!  Invite your friends!

Open to all Cub Scouts and non-Scout youth under 18 years old. 

Due to the pandemic and social distancing rules we were unable to hold the Lenape Trail District Pinewood Derby Championship in the same manner as we have done in the past. The large number of people, the closing of area schools, the fact that we were unable to hold large events, and the potential of spreading illness were just some of the reasons we did not hold a traditional Derby back in April. The lockdown even made it impossible for some of our local units to hold their own unit races.

Date: Sunday December 6th (Live streaming video of races will be shown online)

Cost: $10 per vehicle and all cars are automatically entered into the Design Competition

How Does It Work

• Register your racer online by the end of the day on October 27th
• Submit your car for inspection and turn-in at the Northern New Jersey Council Service Center, 25 Ramapo Valley Rd. Oakland, NJ 07436 201-677-1000. We are trying to make the process as convenient as possible in light of the COVID restrictions, so we have established 3 turn-in dates at the NNJC Service Center as follows:
• Wednesday - December 2nd (3PM - 6PM)
• Friday - December 4th (3PM - 6PM)
• Saturday- December 5th (12PM - 3PM)   
• Volunteers will race the cars while live streaming the action
• There will be trophies awarded to the top three racers in each Race Division
• Top 3 timed cars will race in a Final Round to determine the championship
• All cars are automatically eligible for the Design Awards
• 1^st Place cars from each Division will be placed on display at the Service Center Lobby for at least a month after the race.
• Racers that do not have cars on display will have the opportunity to pick up their cars the week following the race.

Race Divisions (effective during the 2019-2020 program year)

• Non-Scouts (ages 17 years old and below)
• Cub Scouts - Lion (Kindergarten)
• Cub Scouts - Tiger (First Grade)
• Cub Scouts - Wolf (Second Grade)
• Cub Scouts - Bear (Third Grade)
• Cub Scouts - Webelos (Fourth Grade)
• Cub Scouts - Arrow of Light (Fifth Grade)
• Scouts BSA / Venturing (Sixth Grade & older)
• Adult Scouter/Parent (ages 21 years old and above)
