Pack 846 hike of the month
Jockey Hollow
December 7th (Saturday)
Meet @ 9:45AM
The hike that we have lined up is a historic hike in Jockey Hollow, just outside of Morristown, where your scout will learn about the Revolutionary War encampment set up by General George Washington in December 1779!
It is the longest hike that we've done in recent history, and it is just over 5 miles! Please make sure that you and your scout are well prepared and ready for the adventure. It is recommended to bring snacks, plenty to drink, and pack a lunch if you want.
If your scout wants to earn the JHT badge upon completion of the hike, they will have to fill out the application as we walk through the hike, so please print it out and bring it with you! The link to the guide about the hike and the application is here. If you don't have access to a printer and want to participate in the badge, please reach out to Steve Willenborg at 973-768-0316 to let him know and he will bring a print-out for you.
We will meet at 9:45am at the Jockey Hollow Visitor Center Parking lot. The Visitor Center opens at 10am, and we will start our adventure there by watching a video. Please make every effort to be on time. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Don't forget to bring:
Hiking boots, Rain gear, Backpack and the 6 Essentials for Scouting!
(flashlight, filled water bottle, whistle, first aid kit, sun protection, and trail food)
Please contact Steve Willenborg if you register but then have a change of plans.
